One of the main fields of activity of the Higher School of
Tourism and Hotel Industry (HSTHI) is organization of international
scientific conferences and seminars.
So far, HSTHI has organized ten conferences and one seminar:

ORGANIZED CONFERENCES:
TOURISM AND SPORT FOR ALL IN PROMOTION OF HEALTHY LIFESTYLE,
Gdansk, 18-19 September 2008
The conference will be organized in the cooperation with The Jedrzej
Sniadecki Academy of Physical Education and Sport in Gdansk and The
Bronislaw Czech Academy of Physical Education in Krakow under the
auspices of Minister of Economy. The aim of the conference is
evaluation of the role of current tourism and sport in creating healthy
lifestyle in XXI century. The main aim of the conference is to
emphasize the relationship between development of tourism and sport as
well as their common social and economic functions.
THE BUSINESS TOURISM, Gdansk, 6-7 September 2007
The conference was organized in the cooperation with Polish Tourism
Development Agency in Warsaw under the patronage of Ministry of
Economy. The main aims of the conference were: assessment of the
quantity changes of Polish and European business tourism and the
description of demand - supply conditions of development of the
business tourism in these markets.
THE ROLE OF TOURISM IN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY AND
POLICY, Gdansk, 14-15 September 2006
Analyzing stimulative values of contemporary tourism in implementing
the objectives of social/communal and economic region development was
the main aim of the conference. The leading aim was to show the role of
sustainable tourism in that process. The conference was organized in
the cooperation with Polish Tourism Development Agency in Warsaw, under
the patronage of Ministry of Economy.
RELIGIOUS PILGRIMAGE TOURISM, Gdansk, 8-9 September 2005,
The assessment of the quantity and quality changes in current religious
tourism in Europe was the main aim of the conference. The leading aim
was to confirm that the tendency of religious pilgrimage tourism
development is steady in different area and time ranges. The conference
was organized under the patronage of Lech Walesa who is the laureate of
the Nobel Peace Prize and ex-President of Poland.
POLISH HOTEL INDUSTRY AND CATERING IN EUROPEAN UNION, Gdansk,
9-10 September 2004,
The assessment of the changes in the hotel industry and catering in
Poland in the last decade was the main aim of the conference. These
changes were angled at standards which are held in EU. Moreover, the
conference was aimed at analyzing the prospects and risks facing the
hotel industry and catering in Poland. The issue of development of the
hotel industry in Poland is still topical and urgent. The dynamism of
development of tourism market is said to depend on development of the
hotel industry and catering, which in turn depends especially on the
quality of providing these services.
CONDITIONS OF TOURISM USE OF FORESTS AND FORESTED AREAS, Suleczyno
18-19 September 2003
The aim of conference was to highlight the different perspectives
associated with the use of forests and forested areas for further
tourism development. The conference also emphasized the importance of
high quality tourism products (services) in stimulating employment
market. Polish forests and forested areas are under strong pressure
from tourism. Tourism may cause a great deal of adverse change in
the environment, especially in the structure and functioning of the
ecosystem. This problem is present, particularly in the European Union
regions, where tourism is increasing.
CONDITION AND PERSPECTIVES OF DEVELOPMENT OF AGROTOURISM IN
POMERANIA REGION, Sobieszewo 5-6 September 2002,
The main aim of the conference was to show the condition and
perspectives of further development of agriculture in Pomerania region
and emphasize the importance of high -quality tourism product in
stimulating rural employment market.
GOTHIC CASTLES ON TOURIST RECREATIONAL PATHS, Malbork 25-26
April 2002,
The aim of the conference was further promotion of cultural heritage of
Polish castles as a tourist product of Poland. The conference, as
a forum for the exchange of views and experience, contributed to better
exploitation of castles in the promotion of Polish tourism. Topics

- Significance of castles and residences in national heritage,
- Castles and residences as tourist attractions,
- Material and spiritual cultural heritage of a given town (Sztum,

PERSPECTIVES OF RESORT DEVELOPMENT ON THE POLISH COAST OF THE
BALTIC SEA, Ustka 19-20 April 2001,
Aims of the conference:
- Analysis of perspectives of further development of Polish Baltic spas,
- Development of premises of cooperation in the field of health
promotion in spas,
- Increasing the awareness of health resorts problems among the Baltic
Coast higher education institutions,
- Exchange of experience among the representatives of Polish and
foreign spas,
- Promotion of tourist and spa values of Ustka and the Polish Coast,

SELF GOVERNMENTAL POLICY IN THE FIELD
OF TOURISM, Ostrzyce, 26-27 April 2000,
The aim of the conference was to create the forum for exchanging views
and experience in the domain of tourism programming, promotion and
management at particular levels of self-government.

SPA TOURISM: CONDITION AND PERSPECTIVES, Jastrzebia Gora, 3-5
September 1999,
The aim of the project was to show the condition of spa tourism in
Poland and abroad and the perspectives of its development. Topics
discussed:
- Theoretical problems of health tourism,
- Economic - organizational aspects of health tourism development, Spa
tourism as exemplified by selected health resorts and institutions.
