This produces highly qualified specialists - people who can make accurate decisions quickly, who can skillfully lead a team of people, who have a high self-esteem and who can meet the competitive requirements on the demanding employment market.


SPECIALITIES

The HSTHI educates students in the following specialties:

Hotel Trade and Catering Management

The graduates of this specialty will be sought - after specialists in hotel and catering industries. They will acquire knowledge in the fields of economics, budgeting, management and marketing which will be a key to professional success.

The graduates have a command of at least two foreign languages (European Union).


Tourist Enterprise Management

The graduates of this speciality  will have the skills to solve various problems concerning the functioning of tourist business in conditions of a market economy. They will possess the knowledge of tourism business, its connections with environment, functions and directions of development. They will be able to diagnose and design functional models of a tourism business. The graduates will know how to research the effectiveness of tourism business models. They will also be able to build strategies and strategic analyses of an enterprise.

Marketing of Services

The graduates of this speciality have a good knowledge of  a range of functions and conditions of development of retail enterprises. Moreover, the graduates can speak at least two foreign languages.

Computer Systems in Tourism

The main aim of this speciality is to provide the students with essential knowledge to get a job as computer scientists with different tourist enterprises (both as a programmer and network manager (administrator). The subjects available on the syllabus teach students the skills necessary for projecting information systems and managing various programming projects.

International Tourism

The graduates of this specialization will be prepared to work in the field of international tourism services. They will acquire the knowledge of the specificity of international tourism market: supply and demand, conditions of development of this market, extent and the dimensional structure of international tourism. The graduates will also have a good knowledge of the profits brought by development of international tourism. One of the main aims of this specialization is to provide students with essential skills to get a job in international tourism enterprises and institutions, travel agencies, tourism offices and tourism organizations. The graduates can also run their own enterprises specializing in outcoming and incoming
tourism.

Tourist Market of the European Union

This branch is designed for students who expect to get sufficient qualifications for work in EU. Students are provided with knowledge of the structure of EU institutions, their conditions, problems relating to the EU tourism market, and life-styles of inhabitants of the EU.  The latter is the most likely area of future development of EU tourism market.

Business Tourism

The graduates will have the knowledge of current business tourism as a structure consisting of:
- business travel (connected with economic, trade or political activity)
- meetings such as government missions, congresses, conferences or seminars,
- incentive tourism (financed by the employers to reward employees for good results of their work),
- travels organized for present and potential customers, VIP-s, press during prestigious events (sport, cultural, economic, etc.).

They will know present organizational, financial, economic or market problems connected with the expansion of this dynamic kind of tourism. For example: principles of organizing the congresses, conferences, fairs, exhibitions, shows and incentive tourism; purchasing power in business tourism, the financial basics of  development of business tourism, market of international meetings, new trends in business tourism. The graduates will be prepared to work in tourism sector as well as in all other sectors cooperating with tourism in the field of organizing, creating and consuming the product of business tourism.

Agrobusiness-Agrotourism

The graduates will be prepared to set up and run their own business especially in rural areas. They will be prepared to work in tourism and local administration. The graduates will acquire the knowledge of rural tourism, ecology, ecotourism, agrotourism, agrobusiness, local administration, tourism development, using the financial resources from UE.

Catering and Dietetics

Food is immensely important in everyone’s life.
The graduates of this speciality will have a good knowledge of contemporary man’s food requirements. They will also possess knowledge in the field of economics and finances, organization and marketing of gastronomy and rational feeding. They will know organization of feeding, food cycle as well as food preservation and quality issues.
The graduates will be prepared to work in the field of catering, hotel industry, old people’s homes, nursery schools etc. They could also set up and run their own business.

SPA and Wellness Tourism

The graduates of this speciality will have general knowledge in the field of health promotion and fitness, spa and wellness resorts’ management, customer services’ standards and feeding.
They will be prepared to work in the spa and wellness services’ sector, in spa management, rejuvenation and rehabilitation centers, as well as run their own business related to spa and wellness tourism.
The programme of this speciality contains issues connected with tourism in spa centers, national parks, techniques of new services’ organization directed at health improvement and fitness using natural amenities.

The above specialities are chosen at the end of the first year of study.


EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM AND DURATION

- Part-time, 3 years (sessions are scheduled every second weekend).
- Full-time, 3 years (classes are scheduled from Monday to Friday).

Students who successfully complete their studies obtain a diploma of higher education and a bachelor's degree in the field of their chosen speciality. This education lets them apply for a master's programme in HSTHI or in other universities.

On request, the HSTHI also issues  diplomas in English or German.
