ABOUT THE CLUB

HSTHI's Academic Sports Club (AZS) acts within the structures of the Academic Sports Association of Gdansk.

The academic year 2008/2009 holds high prospects for our sports teams and athletes.

HISTORY

Our club was founded on March 26th, 1999.  During the first year, there were 2 sections - Aerobics and Football - with about 30 members. Another section - Athletics - was formed in the year 2000.

That year student-athletes and student-footballers of the HSTHI's Academic Sports Club, for the first time, began to compete with other colleges. The football team took part in the Championship of Polish Private Institutions of Higher Education in Plock. They also competed in the interschool league of the Academic Sports Association of Gdansk.

At the beginning of the academic year 2001/02, our club's board decided to form two new sports sections: Volleyball and Basketball. The number of student-athletes that year practically doubled.

The years 2001-2002 were a time of organizational and athletic success for HSTHI's Academic Sports Club. Funds granted by the Board of Directors of our school and the Main Board of the Academic Sports Association of Poland made it possible to rent new sports facilities and thus the number of members of the Club greatly increased. Our football team qualified for the Championships of Polish Private Institutions of Higher Education in Kielce (2001) and in Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski (2002).

HSTHI's students took part in elimination to the Academic League of Pomeranian Region FUTSAL (2000, 2001), in the interschool leagues in football and athletics. Both, mens and women's volleyball teams took part in an informal competition. HSTHI took the 3rd place in the Festival of Private Institutions of Higher Education.
